Scenic Texas Highways

Who Are We?

Citizens for Scenic Texas Highways (CSTH)

CTSH, is a community action group, formed in 2016, dedicated to inspire community initiatives to restore and preserve the natural landscapes of the Texas Hill Country “highways and byways” and Highland Lakes Region.

As a Fundholder with the Austin Community Foundation’s Highland Lakes Legacy Fund all donations qualify as tax deductible contributions to  a  501 c 3 non-profit organization.

Our Inaugural 2016 Initiative:

Central Texas

Gateway to the Hill Country and Highland Lakes Region

Beautification Project

Location: Marble Falls, Burnet County Texas at the intersection of US Highway 281 and Texas Highway 71

“Dedicated to the LEGACY of Lady Bird Johnson

whose vision included sustaining

the beauty and biological richness of the Texas Hill Country

before losing its natural beauty to urban development.”

The Beautification Project’s mission is to create a grand entrance to the Texas Hill Country and Highland Lakes Region for daily commuters, year-round  recreational visitors  and seasonal tourists.  This now rural highway intersection serves as a “welcome mat” to visitors who travel from far beyond Texas borders.

In an Adopt-A-Highway,  Landscape Partnership Agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) this project will extend from Fall 2016 through 2018 in seasonal  phases. Over fifty-six (56) acres of grassy median, easements and clover leaf sections of this highway  right-of way will be the focus of this beautification project.
